Maharashtra Elections 2024: Voting on November 20, Results on November 23
The Election Commission has announced that the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024. Jharkhand will hold its elections in two phases, on November 13 and November 20. The results for both states will be declared on November 23.
Maharashtra’s 288-seat assembly term ends on November 26, while Jharkhand’s 81-seat assembly term will expire on January 5, 2025. The key contest in Maharashtra is between the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, consisting of the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena faction.
In Jharkhand, the ruling JMM-Congress alliance faces off against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Polling stations will be set up across both states, with over 100,000 polling booths in Maharashtra and nearly 30,000 in Jharkhand
